Grab Sampling Systems

Safely collect accurate and representative gas or liquid samples with grab sampling systems engineered for consistent and efficient sample collection.

Reliable Grab Sampling Systems for Gas and Liquid Service

Swagelok Malaysia offers fully configurable, locally built and supported, and reliable grab sampling assemblies in a variety of configurations with advanced features intended to help you safely capture representative samples of liquid or gas from your process lines.

Whether you want closed-loop sampling into pressure-rated sample cylinders or simply want to collect process fluid into lower-cost glass laboratory bottles for analysis, we offer ideal sampling panel options that are safe, intuitive, easy to maintain and can be ordered as a single part number.

Grab Sample Modules (GSM)

The Swagelok® Grab Sample Module (GSM) is a closed-loop sampling system that draws fluid from a positive-pressure process and returns it to the process at a lower-pressure location (e.g., upstream of a pump), using differential pressure to drive the fluid through the system. Samples are collected in durable, pressure-rated metal grab sampling cylinders (GSCs) that prevent sample escape, helping protect operators.

A key feature of the GSM is its switching valve, which directs fluid flow. Using the Swagelok 40G series ball valve, configurations are available with either two or three valves. This allows simultaneous control of fluid routing, reducing the number of steps required to collect a sample.

Key benefits:

  • Closed-loop design reduces operator exposure and sample release risks
  • Pressure-rated cylinders maintain sample containment and integrity
  • Simplified valve operation improves sampling efficiency

Grab Sample Liquid Systems (GSL)

The Swagelok® Grab Sample Liquid (GSL) is a liquid-only sampling system designed to draw fluid into a non-pressure-containing bottle with a self-sealing septum cap for applications where the process fluid is not at risk of fractionating when stored at atmospheric pressure.

Swagelok GSL systems use the same switching valve as GSM systems to simplify operation for complex sampling tasks. The GSL systems also incorporate Sentry Equipment’s Model MVS to draw samples into bottles. Each GSL system is assembled with Swagelok tube fittings for reliable performance.

Key benefits:

  • Suitable for liquid sampling applications without pressure containment requirements
  • Simplifies sample collection with controlled flow operation
  • Built with reliable Swagelok tube fitting connections

FAQs about Our Grab Sampling Systems

What is grab sampling?

Grab sampling is a process of extracting a fluid or gas sample from a system for comprehensive off-site laboratory analysis. Sampling panels can be strategically installed across your facility, from storage containers and long transport lines to process lines and flare locations, enabling sample extraction for analysis as required.

How does grab sampling differ from continuous sampling?

Grab sampling involves collecting a single, discrete sample at a specific time, representing the process conditions at that moment. In contrast, continuous sampling provides a real-time stream of data over a period, offering a comprehensive view of process variations. Grab sampling is ideal for situations requiring detailed analysis of specific points in time or locations.

What makes a grab sampling technique reliable?

The reliability of a grab sampling technique depends on factors such as the design of the system, the quality of components used, and adherence to correct sampling procedures. Swagelok Malaysia ensures reliability through precision-engineered systems, corrosion-resistant materials, and customizable configurations to meet industry-specific needs.

Does Swagelok Malaysia provide training about the Grab Sampling Method in Process Analysis?

Yes, Swagelok Malaysia offers comprehensive training on grab sampling methods. Our training programs are designed to help operators understand system functionalities, best practices for sampling, and maintenance techniques, ensuring optimal performance and accurate results in process analysis.

How does Swagelok Malaysia ensure consistency in industrial grab sampling?

We guarantees consistency through its high-quality grab sampling systems equipped with reliable components, leak-tight seals, and robust designs. These features minimize variability and ensure that every sample collected is representative of the process conditions to achieve precise analysis.

How does Swagelok Malaysia minimize downtime as a grab sampling specialist?

Our grab sampling systems are designed for ease of use and maintenance, with features like quick-connect components and configurable designs. These features help streamline servicing and component replacement, minimizing downtime and disruptions to operations while supporting improved system uptime.
